In rural Ghana, many women face limited opportunities for economic independence. Traditional roles and lack of access to training often keep them from achieving financial stability and realizing their entrepreneurial potential.
On March 22, 2020, the Women of Zion Foundation (WOZ) launched its Women's Vocational Training program in Ada, empowering women with practical skills in cosmetics and personal care product manufacturing—from healing balms and refreshing shower gels to nourishing hair pomades, powerful detergents, and quality liquid soaps.
This initiative was about more than skills—it was about transformation. By equipping women with the knowledge to create marketable, high-quality products, WOZ fostered confidence, independence, and hope for a brighter economic future in their communities.
"These women didn't just learn a trade—they discovered their potential to create quality products and transform their economic futures."
The training programs were comprehensive and hands-on. Women learned the science and art of cosmetics manufacturing—formulating safe, effective products that meet local market demands. From measuring and mixing ingredients to proper packaging and professional labeling, every step prepared them for successful entrepreneurship.
WOZ partnered with local businesses, community leaders, and traditional authorities to ensure ongoing support. The program culminated in a prestigious certificate ceremony where graduates proudly displayed their handmade products—impressive arrays of balms, shower gels, hair pomades, detergents, and liquid soaps—demonstrating their newfound skills and readiness to launch their own businesses.
The highlight of the program was the certificate presentation ceremony graced by the Nene-Ada, the paramount chief of Ada. His presence at the ceremony underscored the traditional authority's commitment to women's empowerment and recognized the graduates' achievements as vital contributors to local economic development.
The Women's Vocational Training program has changed lives across Ada. Women who once struggled to provide for their families now produce quality personal care products, building businesses that serve their communities and create employment opportunities. WOZ is committed to expanding these programs, empowering more women to achieve economic independence and build stronger, more prosperous futures.
