Widow support outreach in Ghana

In many Ghanaian communities, widows face profound challenges after losing their spouses. Grief, social isolation, and financial strain often leave them struggling to rebuild their lives.

On May 10, 2025, the Women of Zion Foundation (WOZ) launched its Widow Support Outreach, a heartfelt initiative to provide care packages, counseling, and community support to widows in need across rural Ghana.

This program was more than aid—it was about restoring dignity and fostering connection. WOZ delivered essential resources and emotional support, helping widows find hope and strength to thrive.

“We saw women who felt forgotten come alive again, knowing their community cared for them.”

Each care package included essentials like food, hygiene products, and household items, tailored to the unique needs of widows. Alongside these, WOZ offered counseling sessions led by trained professionals, creating safe spaces for women to process their grief and plan for the future.

By partnering with local leaders and community organizations, WOZ ensured the outreach was sustainable. Follow-up programs were established to maintain support networks, empowering widows to rebuild their lives with confidence.

The Widow Support Outreach transformed lives. Women who once felt isolated found community, purpose, and the tools to move forward.

WOZ is committed to expanding this initiative, reaching more widows with the support they need to thrive.
